About

Who Are We?

Baobab Collectives is an organization founded and led by Black women that are interested in community enrichment. The programs we offer focus on providing resources, training, mentorship, education and entrepreneurship strategies to under-serviced communities such as minority and newcomer BIPOC women and youth.

Why Did We Start Baobab Collectives?

Baobab Collectives recognizes and supports the drive, resilience and determination displayed by women and youth in minority and newcomer communities to be leaders of change, as we understand first hand the issues that affect us. It is time to nurture this resilience and motivation to create fundamental changes that will cause a positive ripple effect for those within our family, community, and country as a whole. Black, Indigenous and People of Colour will succeed as we dismantle the power structures that have been put in place to undermine us.

What Do We Do?

In adopting an intersectional approach to our programming and teachings, we advocate for racial and gender equality through addressing urgent needs within the community. Minority and newcomer women and youth continue to face substantial barriers to accessible, sustainable, and relevant education, employment, and self-employment support. Baobab Collectives aims to overcome systemic repression and ignorance by targeting these shortfalls and beginning to bridge the gaps in service provisions.

Mission

Baobab Collectives acts on a dual-pronged approach geared towards women and youth to address urgent needs in the community. This approach helps us to advocate for racial and gender equality by empowering women and youth to be the best that they can be.

Vision

Minority and newcomer women and youth have the right, resources, and opportunities to attain accessible, sustainable and relevant education, employment, self-employment support.
